The Sun Hydraulics RVGSCWV (Material Number: RVGSCWV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced poppet relief cartridge valve designed to regulate pressure in hydraulic systems. This normally closed pressure regulating valve opens to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches the set value, effectively throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. It features a vent port allowing for remote control via other pilot or two-way valves. Known for its accuracy and smooth operation, this valve exhibits low pressure rise versus flow and is relatively fast in response. The internal modulating mechanism ensures immunity from cavitation-related issues such as noise and manifold erosion. It is suitable for load-holding applications, provided that any valving on the vent port is zero-leak. The RVGSCWV model can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and supports cross-port relief circuits due to its ability to accept maximum pressure at port 2. The valve's performance remains stable despite varying oil temperatures and contamination levels, thanks to its robust design. A 150-micron stainless steel screen protects the main stage orifice, while backpressure on the tank port directly affects the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The floating style construction minimizes binding risks from installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 50 gpm (200 L/min), factory settings are established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), and it has a typical response time of 2 ms with minimal leakage at reseat conditions. The adjustment allows up to five full clockwise turns for setting increases, with specific torque requirements for installation and adjustments ensuring secure operation. This model weighs approximately 1.60 lb (0.70 kg) and includes an EPDM seal kit option for compatibility with phosphate ester fluids while avoiding petroleum-based substances that could damage seals.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

  • Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
  • Suitable for use in load holding applications, providing that any valving on the vent port (port 3) is zero leak.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
  • A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
  • Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
