The Sun Hydraulics RVIACEN (RVIACEN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve opens to the tank port when inlet pressure reaches the set threshold, effectively throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. It features a vent port that connects between the main piston and pilot stage, allowing for remote control via other pilot or two-way valves. This design ensures accurate operation with low pressure rise versus flow, providing smooth and quiet performance with moderate response speed. The RVIACEN valve can accept maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits, though spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen to ensure durability and reliability. It is crucial that the relief valve setting remains higher than any connected pilot valve setting to ensure proper function. Notably, this model is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are specifically intended for use in systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids; exposure to petroleum-based substances could damage these seals. The Sun floating style construction minimizes risks of internal component binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The RVIACEN fits into cavity T-19A and has a capacity of 120 gpm (480 L/min). It operates under a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a typical response time of around 10 milliseconds. The valve's adjustment can be fine-tuned using an internal hex screw, with specifications provided for installation torque and locknut adjustments. Weighing in at 3.10 lb (1.40 kg), it offers robust performance tailored for specific hydraulic applications requiring reliable pressure regulation solutions.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

  • A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Relief valve setting must always be higher than pilot valve setting.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
