The Sun Hydraulics RVIAKAN (RVIAKAN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precision pressure regulation. This normally closed valve begins to open when the inlet port pressure reaches its setpoint, allowing flow to the tank port and regulating pressure. It features a vent port that allows for remote control by other pilot or two-way valves. Known for its accuracy, low pressure rise versus flow, smooth operation, and moderate speed, this valve is suitable for cross-port relief circuits but not for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The valve includes a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and requires that the relief setting always exceed the pilot valve setting. It can handle maximum pressures at port 2 and is compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids when configured with EPDM seals; however, exposure to petroleum-based substances will damage these seals. Built with Sun's floating style construction, it minimizes binding risks from excessive installation torque or cavity machining variations. The RVIAKAN fits into a T-19A cavity and offers a capacity of 120 gpm (480 L/min) with factory pressure settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min). It operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) with control pilot flow ranging from 15-20 in\u00b3/min (0.25-0.33 L/min) and typical response time around 10 ms. Maximum leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is limited to 5 in\u00b3/min at 1000 psi (80 cc/min at 70 bar). Installation requires specific torque settings and hex sizes for adjustments, ensuring secure setup and optimal performance in demanding hydraulic applications.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Relief valve setting must always be higher than pilot valve setting.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
