The Sun Hydraulics RVIAKEN (RVIAKEN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This normally closed pressure regulating valve activates when the inlet port pressure reaches a predetermined setting, opening to the tank port to throttle flow and maintain desired pressure levels. It features a vent port that allows for remote control via other pilot or 2-way valves. Known for its accuracy and smooth operation, this valve exhibits low pressure rise versus flow and operates quietly with moderate speed. The RVIAKEN is capable of accepting maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits, although spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen to prevent contamination. It is important to set the relief valve higher than any pilot valve settings to ensure proper functionality. Due to potential spool leakage, this cartridge is not recommended for load-holding applications. For systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids, cartridges with EPDM seals are available; however, these seals are vulnerable to damage from petroleum-based substances. The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal part binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. Key specifications include a capacity of 120 gpm (480 L/min), maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), and typical response time of 10 ms. The RVIAKEN features an adjustment screw with internal hex size of 5/32 inches and requires an installation torque between 350-375 lbf ft (474-508 Nm). The product's robust design and reliable performance make it a solid choice for applications requiring precise hydraulic pressure control.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Relief valve setting must always be higher than pilot valve setting.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
