The Sun Hydraulics RVIALDV (RVIALDV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve begins to open when the inlet port reaches its preset pressure, directing flow to the tank port and maintaining consistent pressure levels. It features a vent port that allows remote control via other pilot or two-way valves, making it versatile for various applications. Known for its accuracy and smooth operation, this valve supports a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi and can handle flow capacities up to 120 gpm. It is important to note that while suitable for cross port relief circuits, users should consider spool leakage in such configurations. The main stage orifice is shielded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, enhancing durability and performance. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce the risk of internal binding due to installation torque variations. However, it is not recommended for load holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The RVIALDV model can be configured with EPDM seals for compatibility with phosphate ester fluids but should not be exposed to petroleum-based substances as they may damage the seals. Installation requires specific torque settings and adjustments are made using an internal hex screw with detailed specifications provided for ease of setup and maintenance.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

  • A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Relief valve setting must always be higher than pilot valve setting.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
