The Sun Hydraulics RVIALNN (RVIALNN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for pressure regulation applications. This valve is normally closed and begins to open to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches the valve setting, thus throttling flow to maintain pressure. It features a vent port that allows for remote control via other pilot or 2-way valves. Known for its accuracy and smooth operation, this valve provides low pressure rise versus flow and operates quietly with moderate speed. The RVIALNN can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits, though spool leakage should be considered in these applications. It includes a 150-micron stainless steel screen protecting the main stage orifice. Note that this valve is not suitable for load holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The cartridge uses EPDM seals specifically designed for systems with phosphate ester fluids; exposure to petroleum-based fluids will damage these seals. The Sun floating style construction reduces the risk of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. This Series 4 cartridge fits into Cavity T-19A and has a capacity of 120 gpm (480 L/min), with factory pressure settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min). It can operate at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) with a control pilot flow of 15-20 in\u00b3/min (0.25-0.33 L/min). The typical response time is around 10 ms, with maximum valve leakage specified at 5 in\u00b3/min (80 cc/min) under certain conditions. Installation requires specific torques and hex sizes as detailed in its specifications, and it weighs approximately 3.10 lb (1.40 kg).

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Relief valve setting must always be higher than pilot valve setting.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
