The Sun Hydraulics RVIBLBV (RVIBLBV) is a versatile three-port normally closed modulating element that provides dual functions when combined with an external orifice. It acts as a bypass compensator, controlling priority flow into the circuit, with any excess input flow bypassed to tank port 2. Additionally, it functions as a relief valve if the inlet port pressure exceeds the set threshold. This model is equipped to handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and can achieve a capacity of 80 gpm (320 L/min). The compensating pressure for all ranges is maintained at 90 psi (6 bar), contributing to its reliable performance across various applications. The valve's performance curve illustrates how system pressure affects the pressure differential across the control orifice, with its capacity determined by bypass flow rather than control flow. Notably, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are designed for use in systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids, as exposure to petroleum-based fluids could damage these seals. The RVIBLBV model features specific installation requirements: it has a valve hex size of 1 5/8 inches (41.3 mm) and requires an installation torque between 350–375 lbf ft (474–508 Nm). Its adjustment screw has an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm), while the locknut hex size is 9/16 inches (15 mm), demanding a locknut torque of 80–90 lbf in (9–10 Nm). The typical response time for this valve is approximately 10 ms, and it maintains minimal leakage at specified conditions. Weighing in at 3.10 lb (1.40 kg), this model also comes with an optional seal kit made from Viton material for enhanced durability and performance under various operational conditions.

Three-port normally closed modulating elements with relief provide two functions when combined with an external orifice. The mainstage is a bypass compensator that controls a priority flow into the circuit, determined by the external orifice. Input flow in excess of the priority flow is bypassed to tank (port 2). If the inlet (port 1) pressure rises to the valve setting, the valve operates as a normal relief valve.

 • Compensating pressure for all ranges is 90 psi (6 bar).
 • Explanation of the performance curve: The X axis is system pressure. The Y axis shows the pressure differential that the valve creates across the control orifice. The curves represent various bypass flows (pump flow minus control flow). The capacity and performance of this valve is determined by the bypass flow, control flow is not a factor.
 • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
