The Sun Hydraulics RVIDCEV (RVIDCEV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve opens at the inlet port 1 when the pressure reaches a predetermined setting, directing flow to tank port 2 to maintain consistent system pressure. It features a vent port 3 for remote control capabilities and a drain port 4 that ensures insensitivity to back pressure. Known for its accuracy and smooth operation, this valve is suitable for cross-port relief circuits, though it should be noted that spool leakage may occur in such applications. The main stage orifice is protected by a robust 150-micron stainless steel screen. This model can handle maximum pressures of up to 5000 psi (350 bar) at port 2 and allows for direct additive pressure adjustments at port 4 on a 1:1 ratio. It incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal binding caused by installation torque or machining variations. The RVIDCEV is not recommended for load holding applications due to potential spool leakage. Compatibility with phosphate ester fluids is ensured with EPDM seals, but these seals are vulnerable to damage from petroleum-based substances. The cartridge's capacity reaches up to 120 gpm (480 L/min), with factory pressure settings established at a flow rate of 4 gpm (15 L/min). The response time is typically around 10 ms, and maximum valve leakage remains minimal even under high-pressure conditions. Installation requires specific torque settings, and adjustments can be made using an internal hex screw. Weighing approximately 3.10 lb (1.40 kg), this relief valve offers reliable performance in various hydraulic applications requiring precise pressure control and regulation.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges with external drain are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves and a drain (port 4) that makes them insensitive to back pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
  • Pressure at port 4 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
