The Sun Hydraulics RVIDKEN (RVIDKEN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge with an external drain, designed to function as a normally closed pressure regulating valve. Upon reaching the predetermined pressure at inlet port 1, the valve opens to tank port 2, throttling flow to maintain the desired pressure. It features a vent port (port 3) for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves and a drain port (port 4) that ensures insensitivity to back pressure. This valve is known for its accuracy, low-pressure rise versus flow, smooth and quiet operation, and moderate response speed. The RVIDKEN can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. This model is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. Pressure at port 4 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio but should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar). Cartridges with EPDM seals are designed for systems using phosphate ester fluids; exposure to petroleum-based substances could damage these seals. The Sun floating style construction minimizes binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The RVIDKEN fits into Cavity T-24A and belongs to Series 4 with a capacity of up to 120 gpm (480 L/min). It has a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and typical response time of about 10 ms. With an adjustment range requiring up to five clockwise turns for increased settings, this model's installation torque ranges from 350-375 lbf ft (474-508 Nm).
