The Sun Hydraulics RVIDKWV (RVIDKWV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve operates as a normally closed pressure regulating valve, opening to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches the set point, thereby throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. It features a vent port 3 for remote control via other pilot or two-way valves and an external drain port 4 that ensures insensitivity to back pressure. The RVIDKWV is engineered for accuracy, low pressure rise versus flow, smooth operation, and moderate speed. This relief cartridge can handle maximum pressures at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, users should account for spool leakage in such applications. It includes a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen but is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The valve setting can be directly influenced by the pressure at port 4 at a 1:1 ratio, with a maximum allowable pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The product incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It has specific configurations with EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids; exposure to petroleum-based substances will damage these seals. Key specifications include a capacity of 120 gpm (480 L/min), factory settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), and maximum operating pressures of up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve features adjustment capabilities with specific torque requirements and comes with Viton seal kits available under part number 990-024-006.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges with external drain are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves and a drain (port 4) that makes them insensitive to back pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Pressure at port 4 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
