The Sun Hydraulics RVISCWN (RVISCWN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation. This valve remains normally closed until the inlet port pressure reaches its set point, at which it opens to allow flow to the tank port, thereby regulating pressure. It features a vent port that facilitates remote control by other pilot or two-way valves. Known for its accuracy and low-pressure rise versus flow, the RVISCWN operates smoothly and quietly while being moderately fast. The internal modulating mechanism makes it resistant to cavitation-related issues such as noise and manifold erosion. This valve is suitable for load-holding applications with zero-leak valving on the vent port and can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it ideal for cross-port relief circuits. It allows remote pilot relief control on the vent port to manage valve operation below its own setting. Insensitive to variations in oil temperature and contamination, the main stage orifice is protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. The back pressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Incorporating Sun's floating style construction minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It fits into a T-19A cavity with a capacity of 120 gpm (480 L/min) and operates under a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The typical response time is 2 ms with minimal leakage at reseat conditions. Installation requires specific torque settings for optimal performance, and adjustments can be made via an internal hex screw. The unit weighs approximately 3.10 lb (1.40 kg) and uses Viton seal kits for durability in various environments.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
- Suitable for use in load holding applications, providing that any valving on the vent port (port 3) is zero leak.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
