The Sun Hydraulics SCIALWV (SCIALWV) is a direct-acting sequence valve with a reverse-flow check, designed to supply a secondary circuit with flow once the inlet port 1 pressure exceeds the valve setting. This valve features an integral check valve that allows reverse flow from port 2 to port 1. The pressure setting controls the pressure at port 1 relative to the drain port 3, and all three-port sequence cartridges are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity for a given frame size. Despite being a zero pilot flow valve, it requires port 3 to be connected to maintain control chamber pressure; blocking this can lead to malfunction due to seal weepage. The pressure at port 3 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio, with a maximum limit of 5000 psi (350 bar). It supports systems with phosphate ester fluids when configured with EPDM seals but is incompatible with petroleum-based fluids.
