The Sun Hydraulics SDHTLCV (SDHTLCV) is a pilot-operated, anti-shock relief cartridge designed to limit maximum system pressure and control the rate of pressure rise. This valve features a unique mechanism where it opens and ramps closed at a constant speed, regardless of settings and flows, thanks to its adjust screw which determines the maximum relief setting and minimum threshold setting. The external drain design ensures that the valve remains insensitive to pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits but not for sequencing cylinders or load-holding applications. The valve can accept a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) at port 2 and exhibits insensitivity to back pressure at this port. With a capacity of 60 gpm (240 L/min) and a typical response time of 2 ms, this cartridge is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and contamination. The main stage orifice is protected against contamination, while the Sun floating style construction minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations. It features an adjustment screw with an internal hex size of 5/32 in. (4 mm) and requires an installation torque between 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm). The valve's hex size measures 1-1/4 in. (31.8 mm), with a locknut torque requirement of 80-90 lbf in. (9-10 Nm). The SDHTLCV model has been factory set at pressures established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a pressure ramp-up time ranging from 300 to 500 ms.
