The Sun Hydraulics SQBBCCV (SQBBCCV) is a kickdown sequence valve designed to manage fluid flow in hydraulic systems by opening completely once the inlet port pressure exceeds the set threshold. This creates an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to port 2, with the valve remaining open as long as this pressure differential is maintained. To reset, the pressure at port 1 must drop below the set value, cease flow from port 1 to port 2, and ensure that the pressure at port 2 is equal to or greater than at port 1. It's important to note that this valve should not be used in load-holding applications due to its operational characteristics. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing internal binding risks due to installation torque or cavity machining variations. The SQBBCCV is designed for actuator-side applications within a hydraulic system because flow through the valve must stop for it to reset. If applied on the pump side, pump flow must be halted for resetting. It features a cavity T-163A series with a capacity of 7.5 gpm (30 L/min), and it can withstand a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The typical response time is approximately 25 milliseconds with minimal leakage rates ensuring efficient performance. Installation and adjustment specifications include a hex size of 3/4 inch (19.1 mm), installation torque between 20-25 lbf ft (27-33 Nm), and an adjustment screw internal hex size of 5/32 inch (4 mm). The locknut requires a torque of 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs .30 lb (.15 kg) and utilizes Viton seal kits for optimal performance in various conditions.

Kick-down sequence valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve setting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to port 2 (sequence). The pressure setting at port 1 is relative to the drain (port 3). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, pressure at port 1 must fall below the setting of the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease, and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.
- Should not be used in load holding applications.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Intended for use on the actuator side of the system as flow through the valve must cease for the valve to reset. If used on the pump side of a system, pump flow must be shut off for the valve to reset.
- All 3 port sequence cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
