The Sun Hydraulics SQDBLWV (SQDBLWV) is a kickdown sequence valve designed to open completely and maintain an open state once the inlet port pressure surpasses the designated valve setting, allowing unobstructed flow from port 1 to port 2. The valve remains open as long as the inlet pressure is greater than the outlet pressure. To reset, the inlet pressure must drop below the valve's setting, flow must cease, and outlet pressure must meet or exceed inlet pressure. This model features interchangeable 3-port sequence cartridges with identical flow paths and cavity compatibility for a given frame size. However, it is not recommended for load-holding applications. It includes a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve is suitable for installation on the actuator side of hydraulic systems, requiring cessation of flow for resetting; if used on the pump side, pump flow must be halted to reset. The cartridge valves are corrosion-resistant with options for external stainless steel components or zinc-nickel plating, identified by model code suffixes AP or LH respectively. The floating style construction minimizes internal binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The SQDBLWV has a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) and exhibits typical response times of around 25 milliseconds with minimal leakage at specified conditions. Kick-down sequence valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve setting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to port 2 (sequence). The pressure setting at port 1 is relative to the drain (port 3). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, pressure at port 1 must fall below the setting of the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease, and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.
- All 3 port sequence cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
