The Sun Hydraulics SQFBCNV (SQFBCNV) is a kickdown sequence valve designed to operate efficiently in hydraulic systems by opening completely and maintaining an open state once the pressure at inlet port 1 surpasses the valve's set threshold. This mechanism creates an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to port 2, with the pressure at port 1 being relative to the drain at port 3. The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 is higher than that at port 2. To reset, the pressure must drop below the set point, and flow between ports must cease with equal or greater pressure at port 2 compared to port 1. Notably, all three-port sequence cartridges are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity size for a given frame size but are not suitable for load-holding applications. The main stage orifice is shielded by a robust 150-micron stainless steel screen. The maximum allowable pressure at port 3 is additive to the valve setting and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar). This product is ideally used on the actuator side of systems since flow cessation through the valve is necessary for resetting; if used on the pump side, pump flow must be halted for resetting. The design incorporates Sun's floating-style construction to reduce internal binding risks due to installation torque or machining variations. The SQFBCNV features a capacity of up to 30 gpm (120 L/min) with factory-set kickdown points and operates effectively up to a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It has a typical response time of around 25 ms and minimal leakage rates. Adjustments can be made via an internal hex screw, allowing up to five clockwise turns for increased settings. The model weighs approximately .50 lb (.25 kg), with specific torque requirements provided for secure installation.

Kick-down sequence valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve setting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to port 2 (sequence). The pressure setting at port 1 is relative to the drain (port 3). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, pressure at port 1 must fall below the setting of the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease, and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.
- All 3 port sequence cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Should not be used in load holding applications.
- The main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Intended for use on the actuator side of the system as flow through the valve must cease for the valve to reset. If used on the pump side of a system, pump flow must be shut off for the valve to reset.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
