The Sun Hydraulics SQHBKBN (SQHBKBN) is a specialized kickdown sequence valve designed for hydraulic systems where precise pressure control and flow management are critical. This valve kicks completely open and remains open once the pressure at the inlet port 1 exceeds the preset valve setting, allowing unrestricted flow from port 1 to port 2. The valve stays open as long as the inlet pressure surpasses the outlet pressure, ensuring efficient system operation. To reset, the inlet pressure must drop below the valve setting, with flow ceasing between ports 1 and 2, and outlet pressure equalizing or exceeding inlet pressure. The SQHBKBN is part of Sun Hydraulics' versatile range of three-port sequence cartridges, which are interchangeable in terms of flow path and cavity size for a given frame size. However, it is not recommended for load-holding applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen to prevent contamination. The valve's setting can be influenced by the pressure at port 3 at a direct ratio of 1:1, but this should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar). It is intended for actuator-side use within hydraulic systems since flow must stop through the valve for resetting; if used on the pump side, pump flow must cease to reset. This model features Sun's floating style construction to reduce internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 60 gpm (240 L/min) and maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), it offers reliable performance with minimal leakage at specified conditions. The factory settings establish its kickdown point efficiently with typical response times around 25 ms. The installation requires specific torque settings and allows adjustment via an internal hex screw mechanism.
