The Sun Hydraulics SQJBKEV (SQJBKEV) is a kickdown sequence valve designed for hydraulic systems where a fully open flow path is required once the inlet pressure exceeds a predetermined setting. This valve ensures an unrestricted flow from port 1 to port 2, maintaining its open state as long as the inlet pressure surpasses the outlet pressure. It features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and is suitable for applications on the actuator side of hydraulic systems. The valve resets when the inlet pressure drops below its set point, and no flow occurs between ports 1 and 2, with pressures equalized between them. The SQJBKEV model incorporates Sun Hydraulics' floating style construction to reduce potential binding issues caused by installation torque or machining variations. It offers a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and can handle capacities up to 120 gpm (480 L/min). The response time is typically around 25 milliseconds, with maximum leakage rated at 5 in\u00b3/min (80 cc/min) at 110 SUS (24 cSt). The valve's adjustment mechanism allows for fine-tuning using an internal hex screw, with settings increased by turning clockwise. This model is not recommended for load-holding applications due to its design characteristics. It features interchangeable cartridge designs within the same frame size, providing flexibility in various system setups. The SQJBKEV should be installed with attention to specified torque values: valve installation torque ranges from 350 to 375 lbf ft (474 to 508 Nm), while locknut torque should be between 80 and 90 lbf in (9 to 10 Nm). The product weight is approximately 3.10 lb (1.40 kg), and it comes with an optional Viton seal kit for enhanced durability in diverse environments.

Kick-down sequence valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve setting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to port 2 (sequence). The pressure setting at port 1 is relative to the drain (port 3). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, pressure at port 1 must fall below the setting of the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease, and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.
- All 3 port sequence cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Should not be used in load holding applications.
- The main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 5000 psi (350 bar).
- Intended for use on the actuator side of the system as flow through the valve must cease for the valve to reset. If used on the pump side of a system, pump flow must be shut off for the valve to reset.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
